Today I have had help in the kitchen from my big brother Oscar. This recipe was originally one of his. When Oscar was small he struggled with words too, which is why we call this recipe “Fatjagz” instead of flapjacks. Now he’s big he knows ALL the words……..and he uses them ALOT! But he never needs me to use them. He always understands me, and he is always kind to me. He’s the best big brother ever and I had lots of fun baking with him today 🥰
Recipe:
- Butter 6oz
- Golden Syrup 6oz
- Porridge Oats 8oz
- Self-raising Flour 2oz
- 2 Grated Apples
- Lots of raisins or other dried fruit
How to make:
Melt the butter and syrup together and mix well.
In a big bowl mix the oats, flour and apple.
Stir in the syrup mixture until everything is sticky.
Spread the mixture out on a baking tray lined with paper and shape into a rectangle.
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden.
When it’s cooled down cut the rectangle into small squares.
We’ve tried lots of different things with these flapjacks over the years and added cinnamon, nuts, and seeds. Honey instead of golden syrup, and granola instead of porridge oats. They all work well and they are always yummy! 😋
Let me know if you come up with your own version so I can try it too! 😃
